Notice from Tom Witmer at the Department of Parks and Recreation about the schedule for the second herbicide application in Carpenter’s Woods:
The week of 8/29 we will be doing the second herbicide application in Carpenters Woods in preparation for the fall planting. This will be a spot application to take out any invasives that were missed in the first round, or any newly germinated invasives. Weeds, Inc. will use the same formulation that they used on the first application – AquaNeat (1 % solution), Tahoe 3A (0.5% solution), methylated seed oil (surfactant) andblue marker dye. The work will be done within the same areas that the last application was done, but the coverage will be sporadic. All work will be done in one day. We are aiming for Wednesday, but not certain of the day yet. On Monday we will post signs at all the trail entrances indicating that the work will be done during the week. On the day of the application we will post signs informing people that the work is occurring and will string “Caution” tape across trail entrances where the contractor is working. At least one staff person from PP&R will be on site throughout the application.
